Its a tradition here in Dubai, With your first salary you have to get yourself a Blackberry phone for one hand, with your second salary you have to get yourself an iPhone for the other hand and you have flaunt it like there is no tomorrow ( I don’t even know if that makes sense), if you have a third hand and this really rare then we can allow you to have a Nokia… anyone will do 🙂
But me being the rebel that I am ( not really ) decided to do away with tradition ( this has paid off for me as you will observe from the below text) and buy myself a tab. Yes that is what I did, I bought my self a tab. A TAB!. It is no ordinary tab, Its my tab which i bought off my first salary, ( all of my first salary).
Of course not buying a BB is the first level of Rebel-hood, but not buying an iPAD or a Samsung Galaxy that is the higher level of Rebel-hood ( I feel like a hippy with torn jeans :P).. Needless to say I am at the higher level of Rebel-Hood. So what did I get ???? AN ASUS TRANSFORMER eepad. The minute I held the dummy and non- working model with the salesman breathing down at me, I knew I wanted to take it home and that’s what I did and now I am in love.
Conversation between self me (SF) and card-holding me(CHM), waiting at the cashier justifying my purchase:
SF: It looks pretty good, its what I’ve always wanted
CHM: Yeah but it’s on the inside that counts, what do you need it for anyways?
SF: To play music
CHM : Then get a music palyer
SF: But this also allows me to type
CHM: Get a Music player with a keypad
SF: But this has a reader
CHM: Buy a book, better option
SF: But it allows me to browse
CHM: Get a Laptop
SF: Has flash that enables streaming from websites
CHM: Like watching Korean Dramas directly?
CHM: WHAT ARE YOU DOING STANDING AT THE BACK OF THIS QUEUE WOMAN, LETS GO AND TAKE THIS HOME
